Playstation 5 vs. Xbox Series X

Both Playstation and Xbox have been among the top competitors when it comes to video game consoles. With the current generation consoles (Playstation 4 and Xbox One) starting to seem outdated, both brands have had to step it up in terms of hardware announcements and advertising to end up on top.

During the period of June 7th through June 13th of 2020, Playstation 5 had a higher interest compared to Xbox Series X because this was when it was officially announced. There were many rumors surrounding the new Playstation console and so when the first official information came out, it started to trend on sites such as Twitter which explains this uptick of interest in searches.

However during the time of September 20–26th of 2020, Xbox Series X garnered more interest over Playstation 5 due to the reveal of the lower-end model which raised interest in the Xbox Series X once again.

Both consoles were set to release two days apart from each other, and this can be seen in the graph during the last upticks of interest shown for both the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X.

During the period of November 8th through the 14th of the same year, Xbox Series X had once again experienced an increase in interest since it’s release date was November 10th. Although right after that, Playstation 5 surpassed Xbox Series X once again due to it’s November 12th release. It seems that after the release of both consoles, interest seems to level out and remain about the same for both, suggesting the hype for the two has died down compared to when they were first being announced and anticipated by the general public.
